XX203 Hawk T.1a 100 Squadron RAF
XX203 Hawk T.1a 100 Squadron RAF

100 Squadron Hawks were regular visitors to the Lakes thanks to their close proximity to the Lake District at RAF Leeming in North Yorkshire. Operating the Hawk T.1a the Squadron undertook probably one of the most interesting and diverse roles in the Air Force, everything from Target Facilities, Aggressor and FAC Training through to advanced fast jet training. Prior to operating the Hawk the Squadron flew Canberras in the Target Facilities role out of RAF Wyton near Huntingdon (Cambridgeshire). It was sad day when the Squadron finally disbanded on 31 March 2022. Photograph taken from Dunmail Raise in May 2019.
