Ashness Bridge
Coming up with something different of this much photographed scene has been a bit of a challenge - hopefully you won’t have seen a photograph taken at night before.
The photograph consists of six 30 second multiple exposures. The first was of my wife driving across the bridge. The long exposure recording the cars lights and upper brake light as long colourful streaks, the headlights also helped to illuminate the road and parts of the upper bridge. During the subsequent five exposures various parts of the scene were ‘painted in’ with a spot light to build up the picture.
It took quite a number of visits and a lot of trial and error with exposure. Ashness Bridge is also pitch black at night and the wet rocks around the beck particularly treacherous. Total exposure was three minutes at F8. Ashness Bridge is sign posted off the B5289 Borrowdale Road. Grid ref NY 270 196.
