Artist Statement
A passion for both photography and the Lakeland fells are my motivation and inspiration for making images. Landscape photography is all about patience and quality of light. Whilst we can’t necessarily predict the quality of the light, half the battle to successful landscapes is simply being there with a camera when conditions look promising. If my photographs convey to the viewer a passion for the landscape then I will have succeeded with my photography.
For the technophiles I use a mix of traditional film and newer digital technology. Cameras include a panoramic Hasselblad XPAN 11 together with a Nikon digital system. Film stock is exclusively Fuji Velvia. Original slides are Imacon scanned and then output using only the finest inks and heavyweight paper.
