Artist Statement
A love of both photography and the Lakeland fells are my motivation and inspiration for making images. Successful landscape photography is all about patience and quality of light. Whilst we can’t necessarily predict the quality of the light, half the battle to successful landscapes is simply being there with a camera when conditions look promising.
I feel incredibly privileged to be able to earn a living from something I thoroughly enjoy. If my photographs convey that passion then I will have succeeded with my photography.
For the technophiles I use a mix of traditional film and newer digital technology. Cameras include a panoramic Hasselblad XPAN 11 together with a Nikon digital system. Film stock is exclusively Fuji Velvia. Original slides are Imacon scanned and then output using only the finest inks and heavyweight paper.
